2025년 3월 7일에 발매된 레이디 가가의 7번째 정규 앨범.[2]

2. 발매 과정

2024년 8월 16일, 가가는 브루노 마스와 함께한 콜라보 싱글 "Die With A Smile"을 발매하였다. 발매 이후 엄청난 인기를 누렸고 빌보드 핫 100 1위까지 기록하게 된다.

10월 25일, 선공개 싱글이자 앨범의 리드 싱글 "Disease"를 발매했다. 빌보드 핫 100에서 27위를 기록하였다.

"Die With A Smile"의 좋은 반응 덕분에 이번 앨범 트랙리스트에 특별히 수록되었다.[3]

2025년 1월, 공식 홈페이지에서 1월 17일까지 카운트다운을 했다.[4] 또한, 이전 앨범들인 The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP, Joanne, Chromatica, Harlequin에서 영감을 받은 예술 작품을 보여주기도 했다.

2월 2일, 제67회 그래미 어워드에 참여할 예정이며, 동시에 앨범의 두 번째 싱글의 뮤직비디오 일부를 중간 광고 형식으로 공개할 예정이라고 한다.[5]

2월 2일 드디어 새로운 싱글 "Abracadabra"를 발매하였다. 싱글 커버는 따로 공개되지 않았으며, 발매 직후 뮤직비디오 조회수는 인기 급상승 동영상에도 등재되는 등 대중들 사이에서 전작 "Disease" 보다 더 뜨거운 반응을 얻고 있다.

3월 3일, 유튜브에 앨범의 유출본이 올라왔다. 그러나 수록곡 전부 오래전에 공개된 가가의 미발매 곡들이였으며, 이번 앨범과는 전혀 관련이 없다는 게 밝혀진 뒤에는 그냥 해프닝으로 끝났다.

3월 7일, 자정에 앨범이 공개되었다.

지금까지 가가는 앨범의 표제와 이름이 같거나 연상되는 곡을 수록해 왔는데 이번 앨범에서는 MAYHEM이 연상되는 곡이 수록되지 않았다. 상술되었듯, 본래 앨범의 가제는 4번 트랙과 동일한 "Perfect Celebrity"였다.[20][21] 메이헴(Mayhem)은 영어로 개판, 아수라장, 난장판 등을 뜻한다.

이 앨범이 발매되기 전 가가가 이를 'LG7'이라 언급함으로써 앨범 카운팅에 관해 논쟁이 생겼다.[22] 가가측의 카운팅을 간단히 정리하자면, 콜라보 앨범과 스타 이즈 본 사운드트랙을 제외하고 EP The Fame Monster를 "LG2"로 취급하는 것으로 보인다. #

위 기사에 따르면, The Fame Monster는 정규 1집 The Fame의 '확장반'으로 형식상 정규 앨범이 될 수 없다. 다만 새로운 수록곡 8곡이 추가되어 대부분의 사람들이 새로운 앨범이라 칭한다. "Die With A Smile"이 앨범의 리드 싱글 인지 의견이 갈리고 있다. 다만 가가가 W Magazine에서 "Disease"를 "first single"이라 칭해 앨범의 리드 싱글로 여겨지고 있다.[27] 비슷한 가장 대표적인 사례로 케이티 페리의 "Never Really Over"가 있다.

전작인 Chromatica와 트랙 구성도 상반된다. Chromatica와 다르게 인털루드 트랙 자체가 없고, 곡도 3분 미만으로 내려가지 않는데다 4분에 육박하는 곡들이 상당수 차지하고 있다. 비슷한 트랙 수를 가지고 있지만, 거의 60분에 가까워 LP도 2LP로 발매될 수준.
