기초 과학이, 미래의 경쟁력입니다.

자연과학계열에서는 전통적으로 수학과, 물리학과, 화학과가 교수진이나 연구력 등에서 좋은 평가를 받고 있으며, 지질환경과학과[1], 대기환경과학과, 해양학과 등은 특성상 대학원 진학률이 높다. 또한 타 대학의 동일/유사 학과들과 비교해서 SCI급 논문 실적, 연구비 확보 등이 최상위권으로 연구력이 뛰어나다. 해당 학과들은 모두 BK21+ 사업에도 선정되어 있다.

2.1. 물리학과

● 학과 소개

물리학은 기초학문으로 그 학문의 성과가 현대문명 곳곳에 스며들어 있다. 일상생활에 없어서는 안 될 전기에서부터 컴퓨터, 휴대폰, TV에 이르기까지 그 모든 것이 물리학의 발전을 통해 이루어진 것이다.

부산대학교 물리학과는 2022년 10월 현재 20명의 전임교수, 3명의 연구교수, 10명의 강의교수, 2명의 실험전담교수를 확보하고 있다. 본 물리학과는 1991년 당시 물리학 분야에서 두 번째로 과학기술부지정 우수연구센터인 유전체물성연구센터를 유치, 2007년 싸이클로트론 연구센터를 개소, 2008년 당시 부산대 최초로 생물물리학으로 창의연구단으로 지정, 교육과학기술부의 2008년도 우수학자 지원 사업에 선정되어 연구과제를 수행하였다. 현재 물리학과에는 입자물리학 분야 기초연구실(BRL), 교육부 핵심지원센터 (신물질 양자현상 통합해석 연구지원센터), 과기정통부 대학ICT연구센터(과제명: 양자센서 개발 연구를 통한 양자정보 전문인력 양성) 를 운영하고 있다 . 이러한 성공적인 업적을 바탕으로, 교수 연구비 수주액은 연평균 50억 원을 상회하며, 국제 저명 학술지에 매년 100편에 가까운 SCI(E) 논문을 발표하고 있다.

부산대학교 물리학과는 대한민국 기초과학의 미래를 이끌어 나갈 학문후속세대를 양성하기 위해 많은 노력을 경주하고 있다. 특히, 최근에는 학부생 교육 강화를 하기 위해 커리큘럼 개선을 통한 물리학 교육 강화, 튜터-튜티 제도를 통한 기초가 부족한 신입생 교육, 학과의 연구활동을 확인할 수 있는 학부생 연구실 탐방 등을 진행하고 있다. 또한, 학부생 인턴제도를 통해 학부생들로 하여금 교수들의 지도를 좀 더 긴밀하게 받을 수 있게 하고, 아울러, 강의실에서는 배울 수 없는 첨단 연구활동을 교수의 연구실에서 일찍 경험할 수 있도록 하고 있다. 가을학기에는 인턴연구생을 포함한 학부생의 연구결과물을 발표하는 자리인 학술제를 매해 진행하고 있다.

많은 학생들이 학교 장학금 뿐만 아니라 외부재단 장학금 및 교외 장학금의 혜택을 받고 있다. 현재 물리학과는 교육부의 BK21Four 사업(혁신융합형 물리인재 교육연구단)에 참여하여 많은 대학원생이 장학금 혜택 및 국내외 연구활동비를 지원받고 있다. 또한 대학원 학생들은 장학조교가 되어 소정의 장학금 지원을 받을 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 물리학과 교수 장학금과 같은 자체 장학금이 조성되어 있어 우수한 학부학생 및 대학원생들에게 매년 지급되고 있다. 그 결과 기초과학분야에서는 상대적으로 높은 취업률을 보유하고 있으며, 학문에 뜻이 있는 많은 학생들이 국내외 대학원에 진학하여, KAIST, UNIST, 미국 캔자스대학 등 우수한 대학과 한국표준연구원, 국방과학연구소, 포항가속기연구소 등 연구소에서 교수 또는 연구원으로 활동하는 등 기초과학 발전에 기여를 하고 있다.
